Today I took the bus because I have a (desperately needed) hair appt at the end of the day and didn't want to arrive all skanky. Or skankier. You should see my roots. Even my work-mate told me I was being a little too honest.
Anyway, sitting on the bus and a miracle occurred. I asked the girl sitting next to me about her bus map, where she got it. Turned out she's italian, lives right down the street from me, wants to start cycling to work, works just down the street too! We chatted away in italian for the whole (1.25 hour!!) commute and we're going to ride in together next Thursday.
We just swapped numbers etc. I think this is probably the first time I've ever made a friend on public transportation.
Two cops on the bus, tons at the bus stops, generally lots of security. And everyone got very jumpy indeed when a homeless-type guy started acting erratic. ugh. Better off on my bike!!
